Bottom line is that most Italians (no offense here Buzzuro, you are an exception) don't speak English. Since they are very crafty BS artists a common excuse is that they "can't understand Americans" or that they "only speak British English". I've taught English to all nationalities and I've found that only the Italians make a big deal out of the differences between British English and American English. There are far less differences between US English and Brit English than there are between the various dialects and accents spoken in Italy. If you can understand me, you can understand a British person, period (full stop). If you claim that you don't well, that means that you don't speak English. Speaking English doesn't mean getting all of the correct answers in a silly grammar book, it means understanding the language, its structure, and the background of the people who speak it. So, shut up and go find yourself a good conversation partner.

~RY

I think the pizza in Italy is much better than the pizza in Chicago, but I also would respect her opinion and not say 'YOU ARE WRONG'.

Joe: two years ago I was in Miami to improve my English. A teacher told "if you want to eat the best pizza in the world, go to Chicago". All Italians felt betrayed, offended ashamed.

I was not.

aa
