Arg... I hate bad customer service. The other day I had the waitress and cooks screw up my order twice. Not to mention they took the tip out automatically of my bill despite my protest. Won't be going there again.

We are often impolite on our workplace, because (I think) wages are ridiculous, either working is a pain to us, OR, if we enjoy working, we're defensive because ethusiasm is often seen as a weakness. I know, it's crazy anyway.
Your descriptions are sadly true though. More I guess, if you live in a northern large city, as Milan for example. Your experience could be very different somewhere else. Those kind of behaviors change a lot from town to town, from region to region, even from neighbourhood to neighbourhood.

Of course, you are right. And, of corse, there is bad service in every country.

The difference is that, when you exit the cafe, good service or bad, you are in Italy.

Ciao
