Then I was watching a TV documentary on tourism in France, and it showed a street cleaner in Paris who used a special kind of vacuum cleaner that's designed to -- you guessed it! -- pick up the poo on sidewalks. Anyway, messes on sidewalks is not at all good for tourism, is it? I'm sure most holidaymakers don't want to see that kind of thing! A friend of mine visited Paris and told me that the poo is also a problem there. It is a disgusting thing to do, but it is worth it just to be able to have such a loveable and loyal friend. My girlfriend and I make sure to pick up ALL poo... and to be fair to the Spainish, most of them comply as well. Even the old ladies have been spotted picking up after their mongrels here... You can easily ruin your day if you don't watch where you're going. The first time I was in Italy was when I was still a student, with a class trip. The teachers would cheerfully tell us to look out for the poop onthe sidewalk by announcing it whenever they saw any: "OK, everybody, watch out for the <i>tartufo</i> on the sidewalk!" And the other day I was walking along wondering why i'd never noticed the upper floors of the buildings around Milan...some of them have beautiful terraces! Oh yeah, it's cuz i'm always watching the sidewalk in front of me for mines! Doh! Anyway, I do remember this being a problem in San Francisco too...but the thing here is the consistency...so gross...what the heck are they feeding these things!?!?! There should be a different set of rules to follow for these owners.Those akin to owning a lethal weapon come to mind.
