Sunday, February 5th, 2006 -- BuzzurroI’ve seen the Mohammed cartoons and I don’t think there is anything offensive in them.
What offends Muslims is that Mohammed is portrayed in them, not how it’s portrayed.
Anyway, this has nothing to do with “religious sensibility”. Those who did this and this and this and this are animals.
This has nothing to do with respect. Respect must be mutual.
This is a blackmail: “do not publish such cartoons else we will kill you. You have to obey the sharia“. Unfortunately, we are not Muslims.
Instead, they find nothing wrong in publishing these cartoons, these cartoons are OK for Muslims, and they’re OK as well for Western media.
Islamists don’t feel the need to protest against these cartoons. Such cartoons are published every week in Muslim countries.
J.Doe and I know that not all Muslims are like that. But frankly I have very little or no hopes to see moderate Muslims openly facing and opposing extremists.
Islamists behave like a global mafia that aims to intimidate the world in order to rule it, following its long term plan, the world caliphate.
It is a totally absurd plan, yet it’s enough to read the news since September 11, 2001 to realize how serious they are. Even Nazi plans were the most absurd ones ever…
And the moderate Muslims almost vanish among extremist Muslims. Moderate Muslims theorically exist, many of us know some of them, many of us have some of them as friends, so we know they do exist…
Well said. I have been wanting to comment about this, and have so many thoughts flying around my head but didn’t know how to express my confusion, frustration, fear, and anger.
I don’t understand how a religion of people that claim to “be a vast majority of peaceful poeple who never engage in terror” can be responsible for so much of the terror that seems to be erupting. They keep saying it is a small group of extremists, but these groups are not looking so small to me. Are they trying to encite a religious war with the world? An Italian priest was just killed in Turkey, embassys are being attacked, countries one by one are being bombed. If they hate freedom and non-muslim countries, why do they leave their muslim countries? To spread out and terrorize the world, and attack from within?
I think a lot of people still wanted to believe that these terrorists were a small group of the Muslim people, and tried not to punish a whole society for the actions of a *few*. But for how long can we do that? Sadly, I feel that more and more will come to hate all Muslims, and we will find ourselves in a very ugly situation.
I also think that the media cameras need to stay away from these riots/protests/destructive assemblies, because the presence of cameras, I feel, only excites them and causes more damage and destruction. I don’t think we should show a child holding a sign threatening Europe with a bombing of 9/11 proportions. We need to stop giving them the world wide media attention.
I also think police need to react stronger against rioters. (And I don’t just mean Muslims, I mean any rioters, like WTO) I have a low tolerance for that kind of CRAP! Protests are one thing, violence and destruction are another. If I attacked an embassy or police officer, I assume I would be shot or at the very least arrested. Why should they get away with it.
You are right - respect must be mutual. When we travel to Muslim countries, we respect their laws and religious laws. Women must cover themselves, etc. But when a muslim travels outside of their countries and they want everyone to conform to their standards and laws.

Unfortunately it is the case of a few rotten apples spoiling the entire basket. 99% of muslims are very respectful and peaceful people. However they allow the 1% to make all the noise and grab all the headlines. There really isnt anything ‘the west’ can do. Muslims have to stop living in fear and grab their religion back.
