OK, OK, We Neglected This Blog…

Sunday, January 15th, 2006 -- Buzzurro

…but we have a good excuse. We moved. I had things to do, I got a permanent resident visa, we did food shopping, bought a cabinet of drawers, sent our resumes around, we unpacked SOME of our clothes, struggled to stay awake despite jetlag, J.Doe had a written test for her driving license and FAILED, I applied for my social security number, we had a walk around home, we bought Dorito chips…
In the next days I’m pretty sure we won’t neglect the blog anymore, but we gave our lives priority over the blog. Thank you, dear readers, for your great patience.
We are organizing our lives.

Some readers reach Buzzurro.net using Google, looking for many different things. Here is a sample of what they look for:

“Ciobar recipe”

Mix the content of a packet in a coffee cup with a 1/8th liter of milk adding it a little bit at a time.
Cook at 750 watts in the microwave oven for one minute and, if you want to make it thicker, cook for 15 seconds longer.

“People in italy are rude”

You bet. But not all.

“Getting wax off a menorah”

You (whoever you are) can try to use hot water to loose wax and then you can use a fork to get it off.

Hope this helped some of you, dear readers. :)

Some Buzzurro.net Facts

Sunday, December 18th, 2005 -- J. Doe

The Buzzurro blog has 2 writers.
One of these is of course Buzzurro. Buzzurro is the technical one. The computer wizard.
J.Doe is, well, she writes many posts, but as one can probably tell, is far from being a professional writer. You can say she is technically challenged, if you want to be P.C. about it.
Here is a story from our early days.

J.Doe calls Buzzurro at his place of work in a panic. “The printer doesn’t work !” She says.
Buzzurro replies “Are you sure? Is it plugged in?” Because a few weeks ago J.Doe said the monitor didn’t work when it was just not plugged in.

J.Doe answers, a little frustration in her voice. “Of course it’s plugged in.” And thinks “Does he think I’m an idiot?”
Then Buzzurro says “Is it turned on ?” Because last week J.Doe had the same complaint about the printer, but forgot to turn it on.
“Yes, it’s turned on !” J.Doe says with emphasis.

“Well, I’m at work. I’m busy. I’ll check it out when I get home”, he says and then they end the conversation.

Hours later at home, Buzzurro says to J.Doe, “Show me what is wrong with the printer.”
She turns the computer on. Turns the printer on. Hits the print key and then shuts off the computer. Nothing happens.

And then turns around to Buzzurro who is standing behind her “See? It doesn’t work!”
Buzzurro then says in astonishment “But you turned off the computer ?!?”

And J.Doe responds with all the confidence of the hopelessly ignorant “Of course I turned it off. I only wanted to print, and the printer is still on!”

OK, so now several months later into our blog I have figured out that the computer needs to be on for the printer to work, but I am still a long way from being a technical genius like Buzzurro. Give him a big round of applause. Not only does he do ALL of the technical work on our blog, he also puts up with my computer questions.

Thank You

To everyone who voted for us in the 2005 Weblog awards. Thank You.
We were very surprised (happily surprised) to be even nominated.
It was an honor to see the name of our blog next to some of the other blogs that we read often, espcially Free Thoughts, Right Nation and Robinik. Thank you also if you voted for them.
And last but not least, congratulations to the winning blog David Medienkritik.

We hope you continue reading,

J.Doe and Buzzurro.

Day by Day

Saturday, December 10th, 2005 -- Buzzurro

A little change to this blog: I’ve added to the sidebar the “Day by Day” comic strip by Chris Miur.

A technical note: The first frame of the comic is displayed. If you click on the “Expand” link, you will see the whole strip.
I hope you enjoy it.
Here is a Wikipedia page regarding Day by Day.

Weblog Awards 2005

Thursday, December 8th, 2005 -- Buzzurro / VERSIONE ITALIANA

Weblog Awards 2005
How glad I am !!!! I came home from work and found out that the blog I set up for a hobby has been nominated among finalists of Weblog Awards 2005, as the best European blog non U.K. !

At first I thought: they must have made a mistake !! :)

J.Doe and I thank those who nominated us, as we thank the 4 people who voted for us ! Thanks to all of the 4 !

Now Davids Medienkritik is leading the top European list. I admit I didn’t know it before. His blog is pretty. He got 400+ votes so far. How can we catch up now ?

Among the nominees, I noticed a certain Emmanuelle.net, interesting. At first I thought it was related to the well-known erotic movie character. Instead, it’s just an homonym.

I would suggest/advice/ask/beg (beg ?) you to cast a vote for us, for Nickie Goomba, and/or for the following Italian blogs: Free Thoughts, Otimaster, The Right Nation, Robinik. You can cast just a vote every 24 hours up to December 15th.

You can vote by going to this page. In case you want to vote for Nickie Goomba, the web page is here.
