Double Standards ?

Amnesty International is outraged that once again Iran has carried out the execution of a juvenile offender, who was convicted of a crime committed before he was 18 years old.Twenty year-old Afghan national, Rostam Tajik, was executed in public in Esfahan on 10 December - ironically, the day which the UN has marked annually as Human Rights Day. He was reportedly sentenced to qisas (retribution) by Branch 9 of the General Court of Esfahan for the May 2001 murder of a woman, Nafiseh Rafi’i, committed when he was 16 years old. The sentence was upheld by the Supreme Court.
Where was Jesse Jackson then ? Why did the Europeans not protest then ? When Tookie Williams, an American was sentenced to die by the state, and not given clemency the protests were heard around the world. When Rostam Tajik was killed, silence (except by Amnesty International). What are people supposed to understand from all this ? That an American life is worth more than that of an Iranian ? That it is more acceptable to execute young people who committed their crimes as children under age 18 ? That if you kill 4 people in cold blood you should be allowed to live, but if you only kill one you deserve to die ?
Are there double standards in the world ? I think so.
