Chutzpah - Modern Definition

Monday, November 20th, 2006 -- J. Doe

Today I read an article on the internet that says that Iran complained to the UN that Israel has threated to bomb it.

The threats, according to the Iranians, were “matters of extreme gravity” and the U.N. Security Council should condemn them and demand that Israel “cease and desist immediately from the threat of the use of force against members of the United Nations,” Iranian U.N. Ambassador Javad Zarif said.
(but of course they can continue to threaten Israel)

Is this the same Iran who has threatened to “wipe Israel off the map” ?
Isn’t Israel also a member of the United Nations?
Is this the same Iran who doesn’t follow any UN resolutions anyway ?

Why is Iran crying to the UN about Israel wanting to defend itself from their own comments ? Surely if someone says they want to ‘wipe you off the map’ you have a right to defend yourself ?

It used to be that when people asked for the definition of Chutzpah, other people would respond that it is like a person who murders his mother and father in cold blood and then begs the judge to have mercy on him because he is an orphan, all alone in the world, and without parents. Now I think the definition will have to be updated to this one.

EU ministers ditch sensitive Israel report

Tuesday, December 13th, 2005 -- J. Doe

I am shocked !

The European Union, made up of European nations known for their partiality to the Palestinians
wrote a report which is widely seen as anti-Israel. This is not shocking news. What is shocking is that they have decided not to use it.

EU foreign ministers have shelved a confidential and critical report on the Israeli Jerusalem policy due to its highly sensitive nature.

The report was prepared by diplomats in East Jerusalem as part of Britain’s EU presidency but leaked to the press last month.

It slammed rapid Israeli expansion of Jewish settlements in and around east Jerusalem, saying, “Israeli activities in Jerusalem are in violation of both its road map [peace plan] obligations and international law.”

Israel is making it increasingly harder for Palestinians to travel between East Jerusalem and the West Bank, the report pointed out.

“Israel’s main motivation … is almost certainly demographic - to reduce the Palestinian population of Jerusalem, while exerting efforts to boost the number of Jewish Israelis living in the city”, the report stated.

But the EU’s foreign policy chief Javier Solana persuaded EU ministers on Monday (12 December) not to endorse the report, warning that its publication could undermine the EU’s influence in the area.

“This report was a little much”, the Jerusalem Post quoted diplomats as saying. “Javier Solana made clear he thought it was very one-sided and unhelpful.”

Could the EU finally be turning impartial to the Mid-East situation instead of automatically assuming everything bad that happens in that region is Israel’s fault ?

Update on the Rally in Rome

Thursday, November 3rd, 2005 -- J. Doe

Tonight in Rome in front of the Iranian Embassy there is a torchlight protest against Ahmanijad’s statement that Israel should be wiped off the map.
I was expecting maybe 20 people or so to show up, but to my surprise (happily I might add), there are hundreds of people at the rally. Many of them are carrying Israeli flags, and they are not burning them ! There are Jewish people, Catholic people and Muslim People.Italians and Iranians. There are center right and some center left.
The hard left and communist parties are against the rally because they say that Palestinian rights need to be addressed and there needs to be a 2 state solution. What they don’t seem to understand is everyone is protesting that Israel has the right to exist. There cannot be a 2 state solution if one state is wiped off the map !

Buzzurro’s note: I confirm, J.Doe looks astonished. She’s watching TV, and repeats, over and over: I’ve never seen so many Israeli flags in Italy.

A Mideast Peace Solution

Saturday, October 1st, 2005 -- J. Doe

Buzzurro and I were talking today about the political beliefs of our mutual friends.

I said “Gianni is a Communist. I guess he is against Israel, huh ?”

And Buzzurro answered “I don’t know. I asked him once if he believes that Israel has the right to exist and he responded “It’s there”.

That to me is the solution right there to the Palestinian /Israeli problem. “It is there”. 100 percent of Palestinians don’t have to turn into Israeli lovers, or visa versa, but they need to know that the other side exists and is not going away. A little Realpolitik please ! There should be a 2 state solution because that’s what is living on that piece of land now. 2 kinds people who each want their own state. Neither is going away.

The Palestinians need to stop demanding their one Palestinian state solution as THE solution. Israel is not going anywhere. They need to come to the realization that instead of sacrificing their children as suicide bombers and firing rockets which only bring Israeli retaliation, that it is better to suck it up, work on their internal problems or other matters and just accept that Israel occupies a space on the map. They don’t have to be friends, just neighbors. After all, not all borders between 2 different states are friendly. Just look at the Turks and Greeks on Cyprus.

An Israeli is killed by Hamas ‘because he was a Jew’

Thursday, September 29th, 2005 -- J. Doe

Read at this link:

Do the so-called ‘peaceniks’ who attended the anti-war rallies on September 24, know that ANSWER International, one of the events sponsors is also a supporter of Hamas who did this attrocity? Aren’t they also supposed to be against racism, or does racism against Jewish people just not qualify?
